About This Chapter

This chapter surveys the basics of network troubleshooting and teaches strategies for how to isolate, identify, prioritize, and resolve problems. After problems have been diagnosed, the next step is to locate the tools you need to�solve them. In Lesson 2 we review the tools used to monitor networks for obvious and potential problems.

Network problems can be complex and sometimes require outside help to resolve. We conclude by surveying sources that offer expert assistance for network troubleshooting.
